Description
From day one I just knew that I wanted a carnival nursery for my baby girl! My husband and I have always loved carnivals, and in a lot of ways I feel like we are still two big kids so it seemed perfect and fitting to create a fun carnival inspired nursery for our Veda Jane! We had an extremely tight budget to work with so everything you see here was either done by hand or vintage finds that we repurposed! We spent less than $300 on this nursery!
Design Inspiration
The ceiling was the biggest inspiration for the design. I had seen a few photos of a ceiling that had been painted to give the illusion of a circus tent, so I took that inspiration and ran with it! We decided to bring the pink and white scalloped stripes down onto the walls to give more of the circus tent feel. In the beginning I was a little worried that the wild design on the ceiling would close in our already tiny space, but it actually did the opposite! It really opened up the room and created a vaulted ceiling effect. It was A LOT of work, especially being very pregnant at the time, but it was very worth it! Our daughter is so fascinated with the ceiling, she stares at it and giggles for hours.

The ceiling and painting was done by hand by myself, my husband, and my mom, with a lot of help from Frog Tape! Crib- vintage handed down from my mom Crib bedding- hand made by my grandmother. Favorite Items
I don't think I can choose just one! The ceiling is by far one of my favorite things! I love the small vintage Alice in Wonderland quilt on the dresser. It was made by my aunt for our Alice in Wonderland inspired wedding! I also love the key, which was also from our wedding decor. My very favorite items are the crib and rocking chair, which were both my mothers. The crib still has marks on it from my teeth when I was a baby!
Advice
I think the greatest thing I learned is to not be afraid. Find something you love and go for it! Paint is just paint! If you mess up you can fix it! (and Frog Tape is a must!)
